Landlord-Tenant Disputes in 5 Steps

We last presented this 1-hour program on April 27th, 2022

Introduction

Landlord-tenant disputes related to building failures might pop up in the middle of a leasing period, but more commonly allegations crop up at the end of a lease. Claims of deferred maintenance required by the terms of the lease, or "improvements" that the tenants have made during the lease term that will cause significant costs to be incurred by the owner to prepare the building for a new tenant.

This program outlines 5 steps to investigate and evaluate claims resulting from landlord-tenant disputes. Similar to how the scientific method drives thoughtful and unbiased research, our construction claims analysis method can be applied to a variety of claims. The panel hopes to provide professional insight into the nuances of landlord-tenant based claims, especially when emotions run high and lead to litigation.
